3 Months of Real Use in My Home
I will be honest: I had real hesitation about this robot when I first got it. The Dreame L60 Ultra is Dreame's first attempt at a flagship without a spinning LiDAR — it uses a 3D Time-of-Flight sensor in the front instead, something they did not promote much. Three months in, I regret all that hesitation. It is kind of a game changer, with the caveat that it is a Gen-1 product and has a few quirks. It is a quiet robot, it is a strong vacuum, and it goes under furniture in a way Dreame robots never could before.
What's in the Box and First Setup
Setup itself is easy, and you get the proven Dreame app, which works well and has all the features you need to fine-tune the robot for your home. The mapping was the rocky part early on. It had to map my studio twice — the first map was off, walls were recessed and not quite where the rooms actually are, and that caused me some concern, because a spinning-LiDAR robot usually nails the map on the first pass. By the third map it looked a lot better. The map is still not as fine-detailed as a LiDAR robot's, and the recessed walls can make it a little harder to edit, but it settles down with use.
Cleaning Performance: What It Actually Picks Up
Hard Floor & Tile Performance
This is a really good vacuum. With 35,000 Pa of suction it lifts the everyday dust and debris on hard floors and tile without drama, and the thin body means it tucks in close to the furniture instead of leaving a ring of missed floor.
Carpet and Pet Hair
Carpet cleaning is a strong point, and long-hair management is excellent. The upgraded HyperStream DuoBrush is a dual floating roller — one of the rollers even has a blue color to it — and it is built so long hair does not wrap around it. After three months I was not pulling tangled hair off the brush, which is exactly what you want in a pet home. It is not interchangeable with Dreame's older brush designs, so keep that in mind for replacements.
Mopping Performance
Mopping is good, just not great, and I want to be straight about that. The pads get 13 newtons of downward pressure plus a small tilt adapter that keeps them in contact with uneven floors, and the dock washes them in very hot water. A big mess will take about three passes, but for everyday mopping it keeps your floors nice and clean. If routine maintenance mopping is what you need, you will be happy.
Edge and Corner Cleaning
The side brush and pads extend to reach edges, and it does a fair job along the walls. Because the ToF map recesses the walls a little, the very edge of a room can be where it struggles most — it is the one spot where I noticed the navigation working harder than a LiDAR robot would.
Obstacle Avoidance
Here is the part everyone will ask about. There is no spinning LiDAR — instead a 3D ToF sensor sits up front, and from the top you would swear that round shape is a lowering LiDAR, but it never moves, so the robot stays thin all the time. In my testing it avoided clutter well and, more importantly, it finished the job and made it back to the dock. I expected it to get stuck constantly because it moves so cautiously and slowly, but that was never the case — it never got hung up, and I only had to set a few no-go zones. Once in a while it would randomly avoid something that was not there, but that is the Gen-1 software learning. The trade-off for all that caution is speed: it moves slower, takes longer to finish, and battery life is not as good as a spinning-LiDAR robot, so it recharges a touch earlier mid-clean. In my 2,000-square-foot home it still did the whole house on a single recharge-and-resume, which is typical.
The Dock and Maintenance
Because this is the L60 series, you get the advanced dock — and it is one of my favorite parts. It heats the water very hot to wash the mop pads, dries them with hot air, and the base station is self-cleaning and does a good job. Maintenance overall was easy. The one thing it is missing, compared to Dreame's more expensive models, is an active dirt-detection sensor in the dock that auto-rewashes the pads when the water is dirty. Not a dealbreaker, but worth knowing.
App Experience
The Dreame app is a known quantity and it is a real strength here. It is a proven app that works well, and it gives you all the controls to fine-tune the robot for your specific home. It also supports Matter, which makes it easier to fold into a modern smart home, and there is Apple Watch control if you want it.
What I'd Change About the Dreame L60 Ultra
- Tighten the ToF mapping software — walls and cleaning paths should be as clean and precise as a LiDAR robot's map.
- Improve threshold climbing to match the advertised spec — the EasyLeap wheels are rated for 1.97 inches (50 mm), but real-world testing cleared closer to 1.5 inches before struggling.
- Clarify the EasyLeap marketing — these are not deploying legs that lift the whole robot over a sill; buyers with tall room transitions need to know that before purchasing.

Dreame L60 Ultra vs Dreame L60 Pro Ultra
The Pro Ultra is the step up. It swaps the EasyLeap wheels for the ProLeap retractable-leg system that genuinely lifts the chassis over tall thresholds, and it adds heated mopping. If threshold climbing is a real need in your home, that is the one to look at. For everyone else, the Ultra covers the same slim, strong-vacuum ground for less.
Dreame L60 Ultra vs Roborock Qrevo Edge 2
Roborock has championed the thin-robot game longer, and its navigation is more refined out of the gate — that is the Edge 2's edge. The L60 Ultra answers with stronger raw suction and the very hot dock mop wash. Both are excellent under-furniture robots; the Dreame is the better buy if you value vacuum power and the Dreame ecosystem, and you catch it on sale. I would not pay full price for the L60 Ultra, but Dreame and the retailers run sales often, so it is worth waiting for one.
