BOTTOM LINE: Is the Dreame Z30 Cordless Stick Vacuum Just a Dad Approved?
It IS Just a Dad Approved. The Dreame Z30 is a premium cordless vacuum with real muscle — strong suction, a 90-minute battery claim, and a genuine floor stand that skips the wall mount entirely. It comes loaded with attachments and handled a big mess on both hardwood and carpet with barely any hair wrap. The dust bin runs a little small and you'll be swapping brush heads between floor types, but for the price, it's an easy buy.

You don't mind swapping brush heads between hardwood and carpet
Skip It If

You want auto floor-type detection to change brush speed for you
The Dreame Z30 earned the Just A Dad sticker after making short work of a big mess of kitty litter and long hair, moving smoothly from hardwood to carpet along the way. This is a premium cordless vacuum, and it shows — strong suction, a long battery claim, and one of the more unique standing setups I've tested. Here's how it held up.
What's in the Box and First Setup
There's a lot in the box. Along with the vacuum and a metal wand, you get a heavy floor stand/base station, two brush heads (one for carpet, one soft roller for hardwood), a flexible hose attachment, a motorized pet tool, a soft duster, and a swivel pivot duster. You'll plug the charger into the wall — it's a 6-foot cable.
Cleaning Performance: What It Actually Picks Up
Hardwood and a Big Mess
On hardwood, it made short work of a big mess including kitty litter, and the dirt-sensing light let you know when to stop — it turns red when it senses dirt and green once the floor's clean.
Carpet
On carpet, auto mode ramps the suction up as it senses dirt, and it's easy to move around. It transitions from hardwood to carpet without a hitch — you'll just want the carpet head attached first. One stray Cheerio got away, but otherwise it kept up.
Long Hair
A few long hairs wrapped during testing, but nothing bad, and the roller pops out easily for cleaning if you need to.
The Floor Stand
This is the standout feature — the Z30 comes with its own floor stand, so it stands upright wherever you want it, with no wall mount and no screws in the wall. You could even set it up in the middle of a closet if you wanted to.
Battery & Runtime
Dreame advertises up to 90 minutes in Eco mode, and this thing has a genuinely long-lasting battery pack behind it.
Maintenance Reality
Emptying is easy — disconnect the dust bin, take it to the trash, press the release button, and it drops the debris out. It kept most debris off the screen during testing, which is what keeps your airflow — and suction — strong. There's a washable pre-filter and a HEPA filter that'll need replacing over time; the HEPA filter housing was tough to get off the first time, so expect to put a little muscle into it. The dust bin runs on the smaller side, so plan on emptying it a bit more often than some of the bigger-bin vacuums on the site.
Is It Worth It?
For a premium cordless vacuum with real suction, a long battery claim, and a genuinely useful floor stand, the Dreame Z30 is an easy recommendation. It comes loaded with attachments, handled a big mess on both hardwood and carpet, and barely wrapped any hair. Just know you're swapping brush heads between floor types, and the dust bin is a little on the small side.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common Buyer Questions
Is the Dreame Z30 worth the price?+
Yes — for a premium cordless vacuum, it's a strong value. In testing it handled a big mess on both hardwood and carpet, comes loaded with attachments, and the floor stand means you skip the wall mount entirely.
Do I need to swap brush heads between carpet and hardwood?+
Yes. The Z30 comes with two heads — one for carpet and a softer roller for hardwood floors. Both worked well in testing, but you'll want to keep both handy and swap them based on what you're cleaning.
How long does the battery last?+
Dreame advertises up to 90 minutes in Eco mode, backed by a genuinely long-lasting battery pack.
Does it stand up on its own?+
It stands upright in its included floor stand, which is one of the best parts of owning it — no wall mount, no screws in the wall. It's not freestanding without the stand, but the stand itself is simple to set up anywhere in a room.
