3 Months of Real Use in My Home
The Ecovacs Deebot T50 Pro Omni came into the studio with a real shot at the Just A Dad sticker. The first-look video was genuinely exciting — extending side brush, extending mop pad, solid build, good corner cleaning, a slim profile that worked under low furniture. I said the sticker line on camera. Then I took the robot home for three weeks and pulled it back. This isn't a robot that came up short on cleaning. It's a robot that came up short on living with it.
Studio First-Look: What Earned the Sticker
The first thing that stood out in the studio was the corner cleaning. The ECOVACS T50 Pro Omni has an extending side brush AND an extending mop pad — both of them reaching into corners actively. Compared to the ECOVACS X9 Pro Omni I reviewed earlier this year, where the side brush doesn't extend at all, the ECOVACS T50 is a real upgrade. The opening line of my first-look video was "wow, it's doing a good job in the corner."
Mopping and vacuuming both performed well in the controlled studio tests. The carpet torture test — kitty litter, confetti, long hair, ground coffee — came up cleanly. The corner mop test got a muddy mess. The auto-empty was strong; you could just hear it suck everything out. Obstacle avoidance was decent: identified the kid's Lego toy, avoided the fake dog waste, and got close to the cable but avoided it correctly.
At the studio first-look price, around the Prime Day discount, the ECOVACS T50 Pro Omni felt priced right for what it was — a slim, well-built spinning-pad robot with real corner cleaning and a decent set of features. That's why I gave it the sticker.
Home Testing: What Took the Sticker Away
Then I took it home for three weeks. The studio is a controlled cleaning environment — open layouts, defined test zones, minimal random obstacles. A real house with real furniture and real clutter is a different problem. The ECOVACS T50 Pro Omni kept getting stuck. Furniture legs, random spots where other robots in the studio run fine for weeks, areas that weren't obviously a hazard. I started adding no-go zones to keep it running. By the end of three weeks I had about five no-go zones set and I probably needed five more.
Here's the comparison that made me pull the sticker: the MOVA P10 Pro Ultra ran in the same house, on the same floors, with the same furniture and the same clutter. It needed exactly two no-go zones and ran without hassle. Same house, dramatically different reliability. That's not the T50 failing on an unusual test — that's the T50 failing on a normal home.
Navigation Failures in the Studio Too
Once I knew to look for it, the navigation issues showed up in the studio video too. During the carpet test, the ECOVACS T50 got lost trying to recalibrate, spent about five minutes going around the room, then switched to whole-house auto-clean mode on its own and couldn't finish the second pass. The front-facing LiDAR seems to take longer to recalibrate than a top-mounted LiDAR turret. The slim profile is genuinely nice — but if it's costing this much in navigation reliability, it might not be worth the trade.
The robot also threw random "brush roller stuck" errors that may have been the antenna or sensor area, not the roller itself. That kind of misdiagnosed error message is the kind of thing that turns a normal user from "let me check what's going on" into "I'm done with this robot."
Cleaning Performance: What It Actually Picks Up
Hard Floor & Tile Performance
Strong performance on hard floors. The 15,000 Pa suction with the straight-through duct design pulled debris cleanly in the studio. This is the part of the robot that worked.
Carpet and Pet Hair
Carpet vacuuming scored 6 out of 10. The robot is using the same single-piece brush roller as the ECOVACS X9 Pro Omni — small middle comb, no anti-tangle design. It does okay with normal hair loads but struggles in the torture test. Roborock's split brush and the tri-cut dual brush on Dreame and Mova handle long hair better. The carpet recalibration loop during the studio test also hurt this category.
Mopping Performance
OZMO Turbo 2.0 uses spinning mop pads, not the OZMO Roller from the ECOVACS X9 and T80. The pads cleaned the corner mop test well, but there are two issues worth knowing. First, the pads can't detach at the dock the way the MOVA V50's do — they're permanently attached to the robot during the cleaning cycle. Second, the 8.9 mm pad lift is fine on flat surfaces, but the pad angle leans forward, so they drag more than they should. On thick carpet that's a problem.
Edge and Corner Cleaning
This is where the ECOVACS T50 wins on paper. The extending side brush combined with the extending mop pad means real coverage into corners — the kind that the X9 Pro Omni's non-extending side brush can't deliver. TruEdge 2.0 is the marketing name, and in the studio it delivered. Of all the things I tested on the T50, this is the one Ecovacs got most right for the price tier.
Obstacle Avoidance
AIVI 3D 3.0 identified the Lego toy, the fake dog waste, and the cable. In a controlled obstacle course it scored a 5 out of 10. The reason the score isn't higher is the home testing — the robot kept getting stuck in places where competitors don't. That's not an obstacle-recognition problem on paper; it's a real-world reliability problem in practice.
The Dock and the Real Maintenance Story
The OMNI Station is well-equipped for the price — auto-empty, hot water mop wash, hot air dry, automatic detergent refill, intelligent off-peak charging. Tray removal in the base makes cleanup easier. The dust bin filter on the robot is small and will clog faster than competitors. The side brush arm felt fragile during removal — "feels like I'm going to break it" was my note while testing. There are a lot of small crevices in the base station tray that need scrubbing.
A few more nitpicks: the robot has a single button on top, but I prefer dedicated home and clean buttons. The "lab features" for stain detection and dirt particles have the same trust issue as the ECOVACS X9 Pro Omni — they act unpredictably between runs. The auto-remop feature only works with Intelligent Hosting on, which is the same complaint I had about the X9. There's no obstacle photos in the cleaning report even though there's a camera. The wake word voice assistant I turned off.
What I'd Change About the ECOVACS DEEBOT T50 Pro Omni
- Navigation reliability — Fix the recalibration time on the front-facing LiDAR and reduce stuck events in real home environments.
- Brush design — Replace the single-piece roller with an anti-tangle design for long hair households, and reinforce the side brush arm so it doesn't feel fragile.
- Feature consistency — Make dirt detection and auto-remop work reliably so they feel like finished features, not lab experiments.

This is the comparison that killed the sticker. Same house, the MOVA needed only 2 no-go zones; the T50 needed about 10. The MOVA also has a better long-hair brush design and a more refined dock. For most buyers at this price tier, the MOVA P10 Pro Ultra is the smarter spend.

ECOVACS DEEBOT T50 PRO OMNI vs ECOVACS DEEBOT T50 Max Pro Omni
The ECOVACS T50 Max is the follow-up step up: adds the BLAST suction system for stronger deep-cleaning, and climbs 22 mm thresholds that the standard T50 can't. If you're set on the T50 platform, the Max is the better pick — though I'd still flag the same navigation-reliability concern until I get a Max in for home testing.
