3 Months of Real Use in My Home
The Ecovacs Deebot T80 Omni was supposed to be the mid-tier OZMO Roller robot — the same flagship mopping system as the X-series at a price that wouldn't make you flinch. After three months of testing, including the corner-debris run, the AI Intelligent Hosting walkthrough, and three full months of daily use in my home, the verdict came in at a 6.6 out of 10 and a Skip It. The honest summary: this is a decent vacuum and a good mopper at its sale price, but it's nowhere near a flagship-tier robot, and the marketing differentiator it leans on hardest doesn't work the way it should.
What's in the Box and First Setup
The ECOVACS T80 Omni ships with the robot, the Omni station, the OZMO Roller mop, and the standard accessories. Setup is straightforward — Ecovacs' app, LiDAR mapping, first run, you're cleaning. One catch on day one: the water pump on my unit was not primed from the factory. I had to use a syringe down the clean water line to force water through and get the pump working. This is the same issue Yeedi M14 owners report, and that's not a coincidence — Yeedi is an Ecovacs subsidiary. It shouldn't happen on a new flagship unit, full stop.
Cleaning Performance: What It Actually Picks Up
Hard Floor & Tile Performance
On the corner test — kitty litter, confetti, long hair, ground coffee, and cotton fibers — the ECOVACS T80 Omni did an excellent job. Tight cleaning pattern, clean crisscross on the second pass, and the auto-empty handled a big mess without clogging (the nearly identical Yeedi M14 failed at that same test). 18,000 Pa of suction on max actually delivers. This is the strongest part of the robot, and the score reflects it.
Carpet and Pet Hair
Carpet vacuuming scored 7 out of 10. The problem is hair tangle. The single fluted brush roller has a small comb that directs long hair to the middle — which is also where the suction is — so it clogs both at the same time. Worse, I got hair wrap from long hairs and short dog hair both. Roborock's split brush and the Dreame and Mova tri-cut dual brush designs solve this problem; the ECOVACS T80 doesn't. If you have any pets, this brush design is going to frustrate you within the first week.
Mopping Performance
Once past the pump priming issue, the OZMO Roller mop did a great job. It got muddy paw prints clean, handled corner areas well, and the continuous self-cleaning keeps the roller from getting visibly disgusting during a run. The misleading claim is the "spinning mop pads look like this, our roller looks like this" comparison — the roller wasn't sparkling either, and the gap between the two is smaller than the marketing wants you to believe.
Edge and Corner Cleaning
This is where the ECOVACS T80 specifically falls short and where the T80S sibling fixes it. The side brush doesn't extend, and the mop roller doesn't reach into corners. So you get a clean floor that stops about an inch from every baseboard. The T80S apparently adds a lifting side brush and a better comb — if you can stretch your budget that direction, do it.
Obstacle Avoidance
Very good — scored 7 out of 10. The ECOVACS T80 Omni identified the cable and the sock, two of the notoriously hard low-profile obstacles, and it went under my 4-inch furniture all the way without getting stuck. The onboard camera (Ecovacs barely advertised this) helps with low-light navigation; the LED light is a nice touch. This is the second area, after raw suction, where the T80 earns its grade.
The AI Intelligent Hosting Feature — The Big Problem
This deserves its own section, because it's the feature Ecovacs is leaning on hardest to differentiate the ECOVACS T80 from competitors — and it's broken. In the AD vs Reality test, I set up a spilled drink to see how the Intelligent Hosting mode would respond. It initially worked: identified the spill correctly, ran a targeted square mopping pattern over the area. Then it spiraled. It returned to wash the mop roller eight to ten times. It got fixated on a clean area under a chair, decided the shadows were stains, and kept mopping the same spots. It got the bumper stuck on a chair leg. It switched into mopping-only mode on perfectly clean floors. It used so much water that the clean tank had to be refilled multiple times in a single run. And it filled the dirty water tank before finishing the job.
Two years into this feature category, calling these "lab features" doesn't cut it anymore. If you want the ECOVACS T80 Omni and you can ignore the marketing, my advice is leave Intelligent Hosting turned off. Use it as a scheduled vacuum + mop combo robot and the experience improves dramatically.
The Dock and Maintenance
The Omni station does the work — hot water wash at 167°F, hot air dry at 113°F, dirt detection, tray removal so you can take the dirty water tray to the sink. Tray removal is one of the genuinely good hardware touches; many docks make you wrestle the whole station to clean it. The frustration is that the dock gets really dirty quickly during normal use, and cleaning around the mop roller area is tricky. The dirt detection sensor concept is in theory good; in practice during my three months it tied into the broken Intelligent Hosting logic and contributed to the rewashing loops.
The Ecovacs App Experience
The Ecovacs app gives almost no information. No timeline of when the robot did what during a run. No stain icons on the map showing where it found dirt. No clear indicator of what mode it's in. During testing I had to figure out whether the robot was in vacuum-only or mop-only mode by listening to the motor and looking at line thickness on the map. That's a problem on a robot this expensive.
What I'd Change About the ECOVACS DEEBOT T80 Omni
- Intelligent Hosting — The most-advertised feature needs to actually work reliably before it's ready to be a selling point.
- Cleaning hardware — Switch to a dual-brush or tri-cut roller for pet households, and add a lifting side brush for proper corner reach like the T80S already offers.
- Out-of-box experience & app — Prime the pump at the factory so setup isn't a hassle, and build a more informative app that gives users real insight into what the robot is doing.

Same robot lineup, but the T80S fixes the two biggest hardware complaints — lifting side brush for corner reach, and a better comb on the brush roller. If you're set on the T80 platform, wait for the T80S to be in stock or on sale; it's the better buy.
ECOVACS T80 Omni vs Yeedi M14
Yeedi is an Ecovacs subsidiary, and the M14 is the budget-tier nearly-identical robot — same OZMO Roller, same pump priming issue, similar AI quirks. If you don't need the T80's auto-empty performance, the M14 saves you money for a similar experience. I'm planning a head-to-head soon.
ECOVACS T80 Omni vs MOVA V50
This is the one that hurts the T80's case. The V50 is quieter, more refined, has better hair handling, and is only a modest price step up. Almost every reason to skip the T80 (loud, hair wrap, app polish) the V50 fixes. For most buyers shopping this tier, the V50 is the smarter spend.
