ECOVACS DEEBOT T90 Pro Omni Robot Vacuum & Mop Review

3 Months of Real Use in My Home

There was a lot of hype around the Ecovacs Deebot T90 Pro Omni, and a lot of you asked me to review it. I'll be honest up front: I haven't loved Ecovacs in the past — the app, and robots that were big, heavy, and hard to maintain. Some of that wasn't the case here. After a couple of months in a real home, this one earned the Just A Dad Approved sticker with an 8.2/10, and it's one of the best mopping robots I've tested. But it's not for everyone, so let me walk you through it.

Setup and the Learning Curve

This is where it lost points — I gave the hassle factor a 7.5. It's not the easiest robot to unbox, set up, and fine-tune for your home. The settings aren't quite as intuitive as some others, and a few of them are genuinely confusing (the 'agent' feature seemed off to me as far as what it does and how to turn it on). I even had a couple of pop-ups come up in Chinese — though when I tapped them, they did tell me what the problem was. If you're a little techy and you take the time to understand it, you can really get the most out of this robot. If you just want plug-and-play, keep that in mind.

Cleaning Performance: What It Actually Picks Up

Mopping Performance

The mopping is why this robot earned its sticker — I gave mop performance a 9.5, and it's one of the best mopping robots I've used. It does a great job on the perimeter of the room, a great job in the center, just all-around good mopping. Instead of spinning pads it uses a mop roller, and the dock washes that roller with hot water for you.

Carpet and Vacuuming

Vacuuming is the weaker side. It does an okay job on carpet, but the dustbin filter is a little small in my opinion, so this robot is really meant for homes with mostly hard floors. If your place is mostly carpet, this isn't the one I'd point you to — but for hard floors with the occasional rug, it's fine.

Hair and the Floating Roller

The hair and tangle test did fine. I didn't have any hair wrap around the brush roller, and that's because it's a floating brush roller, which really helps. Pair that with the strong auto-empty and it's a solid setup for a pet home — just remember the vacuuming is built more for hard floors than deep carpet.

Obstacle Avoidance and Navigation

Obstacle avoidance came in at an 8 out of 10, which is really good — it avoids clutter well. The one hiccup: a few times the navigation seemed a little off. Under my kitchen and dining room table, with a bunch of chair legs, it got stuck and just kept going in circles — it found its way in but couldn't find its way back out. It also runs a little tall, which plays into that. Something to know if you've got a lot of tight furniture legs.

The Dirty-Water Tank Catch

Here's an honest one. There's no access to the onboard dirty-water tank on this robot. I like being able to pull that dirty-water tank out and clean it, because in my experience they start to stink over time. I haven't noticed any odor yet — but I've only had it about two months, so this could become a problem down the road. Worth going in with your eyes open on that one.

Maintenance and the Pull-Out Tray

Maintenance is a little more than a spinning-pad robot because of the mop roller, but it was easier than I expected. I was pleasantly surprised how clean it was underneath the mop roller — on other brands that area has been messy and hard to clean. The tray removal was really nice: take it out of the dock, carry it to the sink, clean it, and put it back. The tray was very dirty but super easy to clean up. The downside is parts — OEM (original manufacturer) parts are hard to find. You can find some generics, and I did buy some, but I always prefer being able to get the OEM parts.

Is It Worth It?

It comes down to one question: does it clean so much better that it's worth putting up with a little more maintenance, a little more cost to own, and a slightly bigger, heavier robot? For the right person, yes. If you've got mostly hard floors, you want a really good mop, and you're comfortable learning the settings. This is a really good robot and you'll get a lot out of it. I wouldn't hand it to someone who just wants something super simple to set up and use — but for a hands-on buyer, it earned the Just A Dad Approved sticker, and it's one of the few Ecovacs I've approved lately that both vacuum and mop.
