Here's how it held up.

What's in the Box and First Setup

There's a little assembly out of the box, but nothing that needs a manual. The handle goes on first — it only fits one way — and locks down with the two Phillips screws from the small parts bag. From there you seat the dirty-water (recovery) tank, then the clean-water and solution tank, and wrap the cord around the onboard holder. The nozzle at the bottom lifts off for cleaning and has a screen behind it that catches hair and debris, so it's easy to pop out and rinse at the sink.

The Two-Tank System

This is the part I'd point to first. There are two separate tanks: a large clean-water tank and a smaller solution tank up top. You pour the concentrated Hoover formula into the small solution side and water into the big water side, and the machine mixes them to the right ratio for you — you're not guessing at measurements. A switch on the side lets you pick Wash (solution plus water) or Rinse (water only), and that Rinse setting is what makes the plain-water pass at the end so easy.

If it's set to Rinse, only water comes out of the tool; set it to Wash for solution. It caught me the first time — I was rinsing when I meant to wash.

Emptying & Maintenance

Emptying is straightforward. The dirty-water tank has a big handle and lifts right out. A quick-pour spout lets you dump it fast if you've got a lot of cleaning to do, or you can open it all the way and rinse the inside clean at the sink. When the recovery tank fills up, a float rises and cuts the suction — that's your signal it's full. The nozzle pops off for cleaning, and the screen behind it collects hair, so give that a rinse when it starts to look clogged.

The One Quirk — Seat the Recovery Tank

Worth calling out because it'll fool you: if the dirty-water tank isn't seated exactly right, you lose suction completely. There are two little ears on the back of the tank that have to drop into their slots before it snaps shut. I rushed it once, the ears were sitting above the slots, and I had zero suction until I reseated it. Learn that on day one and you'll never think about it again.

Measurements & Power

For sizing it up: it stands about 43 inches to the top of the handle, with the trigger around 39 inches, and it's roughly 17 inches front to back. The cleaning path across the front is about 12 inches, so you cover ground without a ton of passes.
