Inexpensive to own once consumable parts are on the shelf
− What To Know
Mopping is light — no onboard water tank; dock wets pads with cold water
Small dustbin and filter fill fast; mop pads can pop off mid-clean
Replacement parts not yet sold by iRobot at review time
BOTTOM LINE: Is the iRobot Roomba Plus 415 Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo Just a Dad Approved?
It is NOT Just a Dad Approved. The Roomba Plus 415 is a well-built, genuinely slim combo robot with good navigation, but light mopping, a small bin and filter, mop pads that detach, and — critically — no replacement parts from iRobot at review time hold it back. It's the first model in an all-new 2026 Roomba lineup and shows real promise. Revisit once parts are available and the price settles.

HAIR & PET TEST
Tangle-free-style brushes still picked up some wrap; pet-hair pickup okay but not class-leading.
💧
MOPPING TEST
No onboard water tank, dock uses cold water. Light-duty mopping; pads occasionally detached mid-run.
⚠️
OBSTACLE / CLUTTER TEST
ClearView LiDAR handles clutter and low furniture well, but missed cords and small objects reliably.

MAINTENANCE REALITY
AutoWash dock auto-empties and heat-dries pads; small bin/filter fill fast, no iRobot parts available yet.
Roomba just released a brand-new model for 2026 — the Plus 415 — and it's the first in an entirely new lineup. I ran it in my home for three months, and the short version is that it won't earn a Just A Dad Approved. It's built for a small home or small apartment, and in that context it does okay, but it lacks features that would help it really clean your floors.
What's in the Box and First Setup
Setup is straightforward and the app walks you through it. The robot itself is noticeably smaller than most combo units, which is the whole pitch — a thin profile that gets into tight spaces. The trade-off for that small body shows up everywhere else: a smaller battery, smaller mop pads, and a smaller vacuum area to work with.
Cleaning Performance: What It Actually Picks Up
Hard Floor and Tile
On hard floors the 415 does a respectable everyday job, and the slim chassis genuinely gets under furniture that stops bigger robots. It's a good fit for daily light maintenance rather than deep cleaning.
Carpet and Pet Hair
Carpet pickup is average, and the pet-hair side is where it struggles. Despite the tangle-free brush claim, I still saw hair wrap during testing, and the small dustbin fills up quickly — once it's full the robot keeps running without picking much up, and you won't necessarily know.
Mopping
Mop performance is just not that good. There's no onboard water tank — the robot relies on the base station to wet the pads, and it washes them with cold water. I also noticed the mop pads keep falling off once in a while, which you shouldn't have to babysit.
Edge and Corner
This is a bright spot. It cleans in corners and up against the wall very well, and the navigation is strong for a robot that doesn't use a top-mounted spinning LiDAR.
Obstacle and Navigation
Navigation around the room is good. In the structured ad-claim test, though, it didn't reliably dodge cords and small clutter, so I'd temper expectations on the obstacle-avoidance marketing.
The Dock and Maintenance
The AutoWash base station looks good and handles auto-empty plus pad washing and heat drying. The catch is the small dustbin and the small filter inside it, both of which fill fast on a home with any real debris or pet hair.
App Experience
The Roomba app is just okay. It's getting better, but it isn't as intuitive as the Roborock or Dreame apps, where more lives on one page. Here you bounce between a page for the dock, a page for the robot, and a page for the map, and there isn't a lot of fine-tuning for your specific home. For a larger home it's going to struggle.
What I'd Change About the Roomba Plus 415
The biggest issue isn't the robot, it's the parts — new hardware like the unique side brush and smaller mop pads needs consumables released alongside it
Three months in, there are still no first-party replacement parts from iRobot, only third-party options, which matters on a robot with regular consumables
Would like to see an onboard water tank
Would like to see a larger dustbin and filter
Roomba Plus 415 vs the Competition
Roomba Plus 415 Pet vs the field
This robot has potential, but to compete today it needs to land at a much lower price. Stack it against something like the Mova P10 Pro or a Roborock Q-series unit and those robots simply clean a little better, have more refined apps and interfaces, and — importantly — have parts you can actually buy. The 415 is a promising first step in a new lineup; it just isn't the one to buy yet.
Roomba Plus 415 Pet vs Roomba Plus 415X
Same robot, same dock, same test results. The 415X is the Amazon version; the 415 is the one you'll find at iRobot direct and retailers like Home Depot. Buy whichever channel you prefer — nothing about the cleaning changes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common Buyer Questions
Is the Roomba Plus 415 good for pet hair?+
It's okay for light pet-hair maintenance, but it's not the strongest choice for a home with heavy shedding. Some hair still wrapped on the brush in testing, and the small dustbin fills quickly.
Does the Roomba Plus 415 have an onboard water tank?+
No. It relies on the AutoWash dock to wet the mop pads, and the pads are washed with cold water at the base. That keeps the robot slim but limits mopping.
Can you buy replacement parts for the Roomba Plus 415?+
At review time, first-party replacement parts from iRobot were not yet available — only third-party options. Since this is the first model in a new lineup, expect that to improve over time.
Is the Roomba Plus 415 good for large homes?+
It's built for small homes and apartments. The smaller battery, dustbin, and mop pads, plus an app with limited fine-tuning, mean it tends to struggle in larger spaces.
How does the Roomba Plus 415 navigate without a spinning LiDAR?+
It uses ClearView LiDAR rather than a top-mounted spinning turret. In testing, room navigation and edge cleaning were strong, though structured obstacle avoidance was less consistent.
What's the difference between the Roomba Plus 415 and the 415X?+
They're the same robot and dock. The 415X is the Amazon-channel model number; the 415 is sold direct from iRobot and at other retailers. Performance, parts, and app are identical.
