What's New vs the Mova Gen 1
The Mova P10 Pro Ultra Gen 1 was a solid robot, but the mopping was just okay. The Mova P10 Pro Ultra Gen 2 fixes that with one specific spec: 12 newtons of downward pressure on the mop pads. That's the kind of number you can verify in real life — push down on the pads when the robot is running and you can feel the resistance. The pads actually scrub the floor instead of dragging across it. That's the single biggest reason the Gen 2 earned Just A Dad Approved when the Gen 1 was more borderline.
What's in the Box and First Setup
Setup is plug-and-play. The Mova app drops in cleanly, Wi-Fi pairing (2.4 GHz only) is quick, and the dock connection is dependable. After 90+ days, the day-to-day routine is genuinely low-friction.

Cleaning Performance: What It Actually Picks Up
Hard Floor & Tile Performance
On hardwood and tile, the Mova P10 Pro Gen 2 is excellent. 26,000 Pa suction is well above the budget standard and doubles what the Gen 1 delivered. The 12N TurboPress mopping pressure pushes pads down for real scrubbing — not just wiping. Combined with the 212°F PTC hot water pad washing, the pads stay sanitary between rooms.
Carpet and Pet Hair
The stock single brush is competent for most households. The TriCut brush upgrade is what unlocks long-haired pet performance — hair tangle at 8/10 with the upgrade installed. The upgrade is one of the most cost-effective improvements in the Mova parts ecosystem, and parts shared with the Gen 1 means it's widely available.
Mopping Performance
This is one of the best mopping performances I've seen. The 12N TurboPress downward pressure is the highest in the Mova P10 line, and the 212°F PTC hot water pad wash sanitizes pads between rooms. Spinning pads at 260 RPM. This is flagship mopping at upper-mid pricing.
Edge and Corner Cleaning
MaxiReach extends side brush + mop reach for edge cleaning. Same approach as the Dreame X40 Ultra and L60 Pro Ultra — real corner cleaning, not faked. The Triple Anti-Tangle System handles hair management at the brush level.
Obstacle Avoidance
This is the deliberate trade-off Mova made when they removed the Gen 1's RGB AI camera. Navigation now relies on LDS LiDAR plus a single laser, which means the robot has to physically touch chair legs and similar objects more often to verify its position. The robot does not crash — it just spends more time bumping and verifying than the Gen 1 did. For privacy-first households, that trade-off is worth it. For cluttered homes, it's the honest weak point of this robot.
The "Clean Genius Paradox" — What Mova Removed
The story turns when you look at what Mova took out of the Gen 2. The Gen 1's RGB AI camera, which was its best obstacle sensor, is gone. The Gen 1's dirt detection sensor in the dock — the sensor that told the robot to re-run a mopping pass if the wastewater came back dirty — is also gone. I call this the "Clean Genius Paradox": Mova kept the AI cleaning brand name but removed two of the sensors that made the AI smart on Gen 1.
In practice, the result is that the AI Clean Genius mode is less intelligent than it was. The mode can no longer auto-trigger a second mopping pass based on dirt detection, and the obstacle navigation has to physically touch more objects to verify position because there's no camera reading the room. The robot still cleans, but the cleaning cycle is less efficient than it was on the model the Gen 2 replaces.
Whether that trade-off lands as a feature or a flaw depends entirely on the household. For privacy-conscious buyers — and there are a lot of them — removing the camera is exactly what they wanted. The dirt detect loss is a smaller deal for most households than it sounds. The robot still does its job; it just doesn't auto-rewash as smartly as it used to.
Cost to Own — Ultra-Low and the Best Argument for the Gen 2
The most underrated argument for the P10 Pro Ultra Gen 2 is the cost-to-own picture. Parts are interchangeable with the Gen 1, which means the generic and OEM parts ecosystem is already mature on day one. Dust bags, filters, side brushes, mop pads, main brush, and solution all land in the Low cost tier, and overall annual maintenance also lands in the Low tier. Long-term maintenance costs sit comfortably in the lowest tier of my testing pool. Combined with frequent Mova sale pricing (launched at $599, frequently discounted), the Gen 2 hits a value combination that's genuinely hard to find.

Mova P10 Pro Ultra Gen 2 vs Dreame X60 Ultra
Sibling brands, different positioning. The Dreame X60 Ultra is the camera-equipped flagship with dual AI cameras, dock dirt-detect, slim 3.13" chassis, and 35,000 Pa. The Mova P10 Pro Ultra Gen 2 has zero cameras and lower obstacle navigation, but flagship-tier mopping at less than half the price. Pick the X60 Ultra if you want every feature; pick the Gen 2 if mopping is the priority and privacy matters.
