Hair handling is the headline strength. Long hair and pet fur sheds off the Duo Brush Roller instead of wrapping — across the testing window the brush rarely needed hair removal. For pet households, this is one of the genuine wins in the testing pool.
Mopping Performance
Mop Performance scored a perfect 10. Hot water mopping is on for the first minute of each cycle, which is enough to make a real difference on dried-on stains. Mop pads stay fresh between cycles thanks to hot water dock washing.
The swivel mop reaches edges meaningfully better than competitors. Side reach extension actually works — the V50 gets close to baseboards in a way most robots in the tier don't.
The standout characteristic is quietness. The V50 mops at a volume low enough to run during calls, while watching TV, or at night without thinking about it. A robot that gets used more is one that actually earns its keep — and the V50 gets used.
Edge and Corner Cleaning
Corner cleaning passes the Ad vs Reality test. The combination of corner-reach side brush, mop swivel, and side reach extension covers edges better than most robots in the current testing pool.
Obstacle Avoidance
Obstacle avoidance is one of the best I've seen. The V50 avoids cords, shoes, and random clutter aggressively — you can actually let it run without babysitting it. AI stain detection also passed, with the robot identifying dried-on stains and re-mopping the area.
The Leap Legs threshold-climbing system is the genuine game-changer feature. The V50 literally lifts itself over higher thresholds — cleared 2.28" / 57 mm transitions reliably across every test run. Most robots get stuck between rooms; this one doesn't, which means it actually cleans the whole house, not just the easy parts.
The Dock and the Real Maintenance Story
The dock does hot water mop washing and hot air drying — pads come out fresh between cycles and dry without the musty smell that cheaper systems develop. Long battery life means full-home runs without mid-clean dock interruptions.
The 3-year warranty is a meaningful differentiator at the flagship tier. Most robots in this price range ship with 1- or 2-year warranties.
Cost-to-own lands in the lowest tier in the current testing archive on generic parts. The Mova/Dreame ecosystem means generic replacement parts are abundant and cheap — same parts ecosystem as the Dreame X-series and L-series, which is one of the broadest parts catalogs in the category.
The MOVA App Experience
Wi-Fi pairing was clean. Matter support is on board for smart home integration. Voice control works as expected. The map view updates in real time during cleans. Notifications come through reliably when the bin needs emptying or a cycle finishes.

What I'd Change About the MOVA V50
If Mova called me up for feedback, here's what I'd tell them:
- Make the chassis thinner. At 89.5 mm / 3.52" tall, the V50 doesn't fit under most low furniture — and that's the one job it can't do.
- Extend the hot water mopping past 1 minute per cycle. The hot water for the full mop run would push perfect to undeniable.

Mova V50 vs Dreame X60 Ultra
The X60 Ultra is the closest competitor in the Mova/Dreame family — 9.0/10 in my testing, Just A Dad Approved, with the Dynamic AIO sensor and hot water mopping. The V50 edges it on Mop Performance (perfect 10 vs 9.0) and Carpet Cleaning (perfect 10 vs 10), and the Mova ecosystem has the same parts catalog. The X60 is slightly thinner (3.13" vs 3.52") which matters if you have low furniture. For pet households with thresholds, the V50 is the marginal winner. For under-furniture cleaning, the X60 has the edge.
Mova V50 vs Dreame Matrix 10 Ultra
The Matrix 10 Ultra is the top-tier Dreame flagship — 9.4/10 in my testing, the highest in the current archive. The Matrix 10 has the per-room mop-pad swap system, Leap Wheels, and a 3-tank solution dock. The V50 matches it on Mop Performance and Carpet Cleaning, and costs meaningfully less. If you need cross-contamination prevention between rooms (bathroom-specific mop pads), go Matrix 10. If you want flagship performance without the top-tier price, the V50 is the smart pick.
Mova V50 vs Roborock Curv-X
Different ecosystems, different strengths. The Curv-X solves the one job the V50 can't — cleaning under low furniture — because of its lower chassis profile. If your home has low couches or beds that matter to you, the Curv-X is the answer for that specific need. For everything else, the V50 wins on mop performance, threshold climbing, and the broader Dreame parts ecosystem.
