Bottom Line icon

BOTTOM LINE: Is the Roborock Saros 10R Just a Dad Approved?

It IS Just A Dad Approved — 8.4/10, Flagship Tier. After 3 months of real-world testing, the Roborock Saros 10R earns one of my highest scores. The fixed LiDAR and 3.14" chassis genuinely solve under-furniture cleaning in a way no other flagship I've tested has. Obstacle avoidance scored 9/10 with zero ingestion events. The Duo Divide split-brush handled long pet hair at 9/10. Dock 4.0 delivers auto-detergent, hot water, hot air, and dirt detect. The one honest weakness: mopping is a 7/10 — if mopping is your top priority, look at the Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete instead.

What Makes the Roborock Saros 10R Different

The Roborock Saros 10R is the company's 2025 flagship and the first robot in our testing pool to genuinely solve under-furniture cleaning. Roborock's design choice here is the headline: instead of a spinning LiDAR tower on top of the robot (the usual flagship signature), the Saros 10R uses a fixed LiDAR that sits flush with the chassis. The result is a 3.14-inch-tall robot that slides under couches, beds, and dressers that stop most flagships at the door.

What's in the Box and First Setup

Setup runs about 15 minutes — standard Roborock onboarding via the proven Roborock app. Wi-Fi pairing (2.4 GHz only), StarLight 2.0 mapping pass, and the Dock 4.0 onboarding (including the auto-detergent reservoir fill).

What's in the box: the robot, the Multifunctional Dock 4.0, removable spinning mop pads, FlexiArm Riser side brush, the Duo Divide split-brush roller (pre-installed), starter dust bag, station ramp, cleaning brush, charging cable, and a starter bottle of detergent for the auto-dispenser.

Cleaning Performance: What It Actually Picks Up

Hard Floor & Tile Performance

22,000 Pa HyperForce suction delivers cleanly on hardwood and tile. The Duo Divide split-brush grabs debris without flinging it. The 3.14" chassis profile means the robot actually reaches places taller flagships can't — including most kitchen toe-kicks, low couches, and bed frames.

Vacuum Performance — A Strong All-Rounder

Carpet cleaning is solid, and the hair tangle test earned a top mark thanks to the floating Duo Divide split-brush — the brush is physically split in the middle so long hair doesn't have a single shaft to wrap around. For a household with a long-hair pet, this is the feature that matters most over a 3-month testing window.

Obstacle avoidance was outstanding. The front camera plus the optical sensor caught cords, toys, and kid clutter cleanly in every test. Tom didn't have a single ingestion event during the 3-month window — a remarkable result for a household with kids and pets.

Mopping Performance — The Honest Weakness

Mopping is the one area where the Roborock Saros 10R loses points. It mops — the side-reach spinning pads cover corners, the 22mm lift function keeps wet pads off carpet, and the dock's hot water washing and hot air drying are both genuine premium features. But head-to-head against other flagships at the same price point, the Saros 10R's mopping is just OK. If your home is mostly hardwood and mopping quality is the most important factor in your decision, the Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete is the better mopping flagship today. If your home is mixed and mopping is one of several priorities, the Saros 10R is fine — just not category-leading on mopping.

Edge and Corner Cleaning

FlexiArm Riser side brush + side-reach spinning mop pads. The Ad vs Reality corner cleaning claim passed cleanly. Real corner coverage — and the slim 3.14" profile means the robot also reaches the toe-kick areas under cabinets that flagship robots typically can't access.

Obstacle Avoidance

The front camera plus the optical sensor stack. Across 3 months of testing in a household with kids, pets, cords, and clutter, the Saros 10R had zero ingestion events. The strongest obstacle avoidance Tom has measured in the project, tied with the Roborock Qrevo Curv X.

The Dock 4.0

The Dock 4.0 is one of the most advanced docks on the market right now. Hot water washing and hot air drying come standard. The dock also includes auto-detergent dispensing — you fill a reservoir with cleaning solution and the dock automatically meters the right amount into the mop wash. This is a real upgrade over Dock 3.0 (which requires manual solution mixing into the clean water tank). Plus a built-in dirt-detect sensor that triggers more thorough cleaning when needed, and a self-cleaning cycle for the dock itself. Tray removal is easy for occasional manual cleanup. Worth knowing: replacement parts for the Saros 10R lean toward OEM at this generation. Generic third-party parts can be tricky to source, so the cheapest-possible-upkeep buyer should factor that in.

The Tall Threshold Issue

One failure mode worth flagging. In testing, the Saros 10R could not get over a really tall threshold cleanly — somewhere above the published 1.5-inch / 40mm spec. If you have a step-up between rooms in your house, measure your tallest threshold before buying.

Everything else with thresholds and floor transitions worked fine. This is a specific edge case, not a general weakness.

Cost to Own

Annual upkeep lands at approximately $277/year OEM — one of the cheaper flagships to keep running, on the mature Roborock parts ecosystem. Every part category lands LOW. The one note: generic third-party part availability is mixed at this generation — most buyers will stay on OEM, which keeps quality predictable but means the cheapest-possible-upkeep path isn't open. Roborock's parts ecosystem will continue to expand generic availability over time as it has on older models.

Roborock Saros 10R vs the Competition

Roborock Saros 10R vs Roborock Qrevo Curv X

Same family, similar profile (both 3.14" thin), same suction (22,000 Pa), same Duo Divide split-brush. The Roborock Saros 10R has the more advanced Dock 4.0 with auto-detergent. The Roborock Curv X has the Thermo+ Dock 3.0 with hotter water (176°F vs the Saros 10R's hot wash). The Roborock Curv X is the 2026 Pick of the Year — frequently on sale at better discounts. Pick on dock priority: auto-detergent (Saros 10R) vs hotter wash temp (Curv X).

Roborock Saros 10R vs Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete

Cross-shop at the flagship tier. The Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete has ProLeap 2.0 climbing (3.46") — solving the Roborock Saros 10R's threshold weakness — plus 35,000 Pa, 12N TurboPress mopping, and dual AI cameras. The Roborock Saros 10R has the slim profile that fits under furniture the Dreame can't reach, the auto-detergent Dock 4.0, and Roborock's mature ecosystem. Pick the Dreame for tall thresholds and mopping priority; pick the Saros 10R for under-furniture access and auto-detergent.

Roborock Saros 10R vs Roborock Qrevo Edge

Generational comparison. The Roborock Qrevo Edge is the same generation as the Roborock Qrevo Curv with dock fixes applied — same chassis-lift hardware, same hair handling, same dock workflow at one notch lower. The Roborock Saros 10R is the 2025 flagship with the slim profile, fixed LiDAR, and Dock 4.0. If you don't need the under-furniture advantage or auto-detergent dock, the Edge is a strong value pick at a lower price point.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Buyer Questions
Does the Roborock Saros 10R have a camera, and is the video private?+

Yes, it has a front-facing video camera that powers obstacle avoidance and a "search for pet" feature. Roborock handles video on-device for navigation; pet-camera streaming is opt-in through the app. If you're privacy-sensitive, you can disable the camera features in settings — but if privacy is the primary concern, look at the Roborock Qrevo Edge S5A (no camera by design).

How does the Roborock Saros 10R compare to the Roborock Qrevo Edge or Qrevo Curv?+

The Roborock Saros 10R is the newer flagship — thinner chassis (3.14"), fixed LiDAR (no spinning tower), and the more advanced Dock 4.0 with auto-detergent. The Roborock Qrevo Edge and Roborock Curv share the same generation-prior platform: same brush system, similar mopping performance, slightly thicker chassis. If you don't need the under-furniture advantage or auto-detergent dock, the Roborock Qrevo Edge is a strong value pick at a lower price.

Will the Roborock Saros 10R handle long pet hair without tangling?+

Yes. The Duo Divide split-brush roller is specifically designed to prevent long-hair wrap, and it earned a top score on my hair tangle test. After 3 months in a real home with pets, the brush stayed clear. Same hair handling as the Roborock Qrevo Curv X.

Can the Roborock Saros 10R mop and vacuum carpet at the same time?+

It separates the two modes intelligently. The AdaptiLift chassis raises the robot when it detects carpet, and the spinning mop pads have a 22mm lift to keep wet pads off rugs. If you have area rugs, this means no wet pads dragging across them.

What's the cost to own per year on the Roborock Saros 10R?+

Low tier in our overall annual upkeep ranking — approximately $277/year OEM, one of the cheaper flagships to keep running. Per-part replacement costs are also LOW across the board on the OEM kit. One thing to know: third-party generic parts for this specific model can be tricky to source at this generation, so most buyers will stay on OEM. Use the live links on this page for current part pricing.

Is the Roborock Saros 10R worth it over an older Roborock model on sale?+

If under-furniture cleaning matters to you, yes — the Roborock Saros 10R is the first Roborock to truly solve that category. If your floor plan doesn't have low-profile furniture and you want the rest of Roborock's flagship features at a lower price, an older model like the Qrevo Edge on sale will get you most of the way there.

What about the tall threshold issue?+

In testing, the Roborock Saros 10R could not cleanly clear a threshold taller than the published 1.5"/40mm spec. Everything within spec worked fine. Before buying, measure your tallest threshold — if it's at or near 40mm, you may run into the same edge case. For really tall transitions, look at the Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete (ProLeap 2.0, 3.46").

What does auto-detergent dispensing actually do?+

The Dock 4.0 has a reservoir you fill with cleaning solution. When the robot returns to the dock to wash its mop pads, the dock automatically meters the right amount of solution into the mop wash water. Previous Roborock docks (Dock 3.0 and earlier) require manually mixing solution into the clean water tank yourself. Auto-detergent is one of the meaningful upgrades the Saros 10R brings to the flagship dock workflow.
